Check Connections

Check Connections
Computer monitor issues are sometimes caused by a simple loose or failing video cable. For desktop systems, check that the cable is connected securely & properly from the back of the monitor to the back of the computer, & that the graphics card is secure inside the tower. Check for signs of fraying or destroy on the cable, & replace in the event you find any splits, exposed wiring or extreme kinks that may interfere with proper communication between the monitor & computer. Laptop computer computers need disassembly to access the video cable, so consult your user or service guide for assistance.

Unusual black lines on your computer monitor indicate an issue in of components; the monitor itself, the graphics card or the motherboard. A second monitor can help you narrow down the true source. If the vertical line also appears on the second monitor, the issue lies within the circuitry of your computer. A neat picture on the second monitor indicates the display issues seen on your original monitor are due to a fault within that monitor itself.

Graphics Card Issues
The part responsible for translating the knowledge & knowledge from your computer in to visual images is the graphics card, often known as a graphics chip in laptops. If this part fails, the images that appear on the screen can contain vertical or horizontal lines. Connecting a second monitor will show these lines as well. Desktop computers permit you the ease of basically replacing the graphics card, while laptops usually need the replacement of the whole motherboard due to their compact & space efficient nature.

LCD Failure
LCD monitors can experience failure from outside destroy such as moisture cnllection & rough handling, or from internal issues such as burned out circuitry due to a power surge. Video issues such as lines, unusual color changes & scrambled images are common signs of LCD failure. Depending on your computer, an experienced computer repair technician may be able to repair the issue, or you can basically replace the monitor or LCD screen.

Method Board Issues
The method board, or motherboard, is the nerve middle of the computer, & controls all the various actions & processes your computer needs to operate. In some cases of vertical lines, the monitor & graphics card are both fine, but the motherboard itself is not communicating with either properly. Regrettably, diagnosing a defective motherboard is not simple, & usually only occurs when all other feasible causes are eliminated.
