Bitdefender, sometimes abbeviated to BD, is an anti-virus program progam that was launched in 2001. The newer versions of the BitDefender program contain a toolbaras an element of the total BitDefender program content (identified on a computer as "Bdtoolbar/Content,") which appears at the top of the Google Chrome browser & is created to be positive secure browsing. At the time of publication, BitDefender 2012 is the most recent version of the program & may be installed by Google Chrome search engine users if desired. One time the BitDefender program is installed, the toolbar will appear in the Google Chrome browser.

Toolbar Location
The BitDefender toolbar appears in the upper right hand corner of the Google Chome sceen. It is not the only search option, but is merely an option for users who require for BitDefender to scan all search results before presenting them on a page.

Toolbar Appearance
The BitDefender toolbar has a BitDefender logo to the left of a blank space in which users can enter their search queries.

Toolbar Purpose
The toolbar's purpose is to permit instant access to the BitDefender program without the necessity to access it through the computer's start menu or though desktop icons. The toolbar does not offer full access to the BitDefender program but does permit for carefully filtered search results.
