Story Summary FILM Ringu (1998):
The story in the movie Ringu was preceded by strange deaths of two Tokyo high school student, after watching a videotape. One of the victims who died, Tomoko, has an aunt who worked as a reporter at a television station in Tokyo. Death Tomoko makes her aunt, Reiko Asakawa (Nanako Matsushima), was intrigued. He was trying to find out about the cause of death Tomoko.
In its investigation, Reiko find an urban legend which says about a cursed video that kills people seven days after watching the video. Reiko find a video that has been seen by Tomoko and then watch it. He could not understand the scene which he saw in the video, but somehow he felt the scenes are very disturbing and unsettling. He was more agitated when the telephone suddenly rang just after he finished watching the film. When she lift no one answered.
Reiko, though still being half-skeptical, worried that maybe it's an urban legend is true. Feeling fearful and anxious, Reiko then ask for help ex-husband, Ryuji Takayama. They must find the cause of the curse of the video and neutralize them within 7 days to save Reiko. Everything becomes more complicated when Reiko realized that his son, Yoichi, it also has to watch the video.
Together they managed to trace the origins of the video to the island of Oshima. There they get the additional information that several years before a local psychic, Shizuko, committed suicide. Shizuko child named Sadako was rushed by his father and hid in a house. The father who apparently felt the fear of the power of Sadako, then killed her and hid her body in a well hidden in the house. The video is a manifestation of anger Sadako.
Reiko and Ryuji then find Sadako's body, lifted it and then give a decent burial. Relieved to find it has managed to stop the curse of the video, they returned to Tokyo. However, a day after returning to Tokyo, Ryuji died from the curse of Sadako, exactly 7 days after he first watched the video tapes. Reiko who get the news to realize that the curse of Sadako is not depleted at all. However, he wondered why he did not die because of the 7 day is already gone?
Finally, he realized that he did not die because he had given it to Ryuji video to watch, and thus he has transferred the curse to Ryuji. The curse is transferred if we get other people to watch the video. Finally, to save the lives of children who also have watched the video, Reiko took the tape home to their parents watch.
